William R. Chemerka
The educational content on this Web site is adapted from William R. Chemerka's book, The Davy Crockett Almanac and Book of Lists (Eakin Press, 2000).

William R. Chemerka has taught U.S. history and economics at Madison High School in Madison, New Jersey for 27 years. He is the recipient if the DAR's Outstanding Teacher of American History in the State of New Jersey Award, three Barrett-Caprio Teaching Awards, the Governor's Teaching Recognition Award, and has been recognized by "Who's Who Among American Teachers." Chemerka has also appeared as an historical commentator on A&E Network and The History Channel.

The Biography Channel and The History Channel
The education team at The History Channel and The Biography Channel worked closely with William Chemerka to develop the content and lessons included on this Web site. The History Channel also produced and donated the video segments from Boone and Crockett: The Hunter Heroes featured on this Web site to the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum for its exhibit, Sunrise in His Pockets: The Life, Legend and Legacy of Davy Crockett.
